Exploring Identity Through Play & Creativity
Identity is unique to each of us—it’s the way we see ourselves and how we connect with the world. It can be shaped by the people we spend time with, the music we love, the places we call home, and the culture we belong to. Simply put, identity is who we are.
For children, understanding their identity can sometimes feel confusing, and that’s okay! Through Dianna.K integrated play therapy approach, we create safe spaces for children to explore and express who they are in ways that feel natural to them. One powerful way we do this is through painting.
Why painting?
Art allows children to represent their feelings, experiences, and sense of self in a way that words sometimes can’t. With a paintbrush in hand, they can explore colours, shapes, and textures that reflect their emotions, interests, and personal stories.
Through guided creative expression, children gain confidence in their identity, feel seen and heard, and develop a stronger sense of self. Most importantly, they learn that identity is something they can explore, shape, and embrace in their own unique way.
