Comfortable & Uncomfortable

At Dianna.K, we believe that understanding and respecting boundaries and personal space is essential for emotional wellbeing. Through our integrated play therapy sessions, we use the Equimotional Well-being Framework, a strength-based approach that helps children explore these concepts in a safe, supportive, and empowering environment.

We have differences between feeling comfortable and uncomfortable, how our bodies reflect these feelings, and what we can do to move from one to the other.

What does being comfortable or uncomfortable feel like?

When we feel comfortable, our bodies might feel relaxed, calm, and light. We may notice soft shoulders, steady breathing, or a warm feeling in our chest.

When we feel uncomfortable, our bodies can tell us something isn’t quite right. This might feel like tight shoulders, a racing heart, wobbly legs, or even a nervous tummy.

What can we do to move from uncomfortable to comfortable?

We explore simple strategies like:

  • Taking deep, slow breaths to calm our heart rate.

  • Creating a personal boundary by stepping back, saying “no,” or using open palms to signal our needs.

  • Finding a safe person or a quiet space to ground ourselves.

  • Using our “comfort items,” like a favourite toy or blanket, to feel secure.

  • Sharing how we feel with someone we trust, such as “I feel nervous because I’m not sure what’s going to happen.”
